Arthrosamid Injections

An introduction to Arthrosamid Injections

Arthrosamid injections are a type of medical treatment used to manage the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis. They involve injecting a soft, non-degradable hydrogel directly into the knee joint. The gel is made up of 97.5% water and 2.5% polyacrylamide and it works by cushioning the joint and improving lubrication. This helps reduce pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the knee, leading to improved joint function and mobility.

This treatment is particularly beneficial for patients who have not responded well to conventional therapies but are not yet ready or suitable for knee replacement surgery. Arthrosamid works by reducing inflammation and improving the mechanical function of the joint.

Conditions best suited for Arthrosamid Injections

Osteoarthritis

Arthrosamid injections are particularly effective for managing mild to moderate osteoarthritis, especially in the knee and other large joints. By injecting Arthrosamid into the affected joint, it provides cushioning and support that helps reduce pain and improve mobility.

How do Arthrosamid Injections work?

Arthrosamid injections work by using a non-biodegradable hydrogel made of 97.5% water and 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide. When this gel is injected into the knee joint, it integrates into the synovial membrane, the soft tissue lining the joint where it acts as a long-lasting cushion and lubricant. This helps reduce joint friction and inflammation, both of which are key contributors to the pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.

Unlike treatments that simply mask symptoms for a short time, Arthrosamid provides a more sustained therapeutic effect. The hydrogel doesn’t break down or get absorbed by the body, so it remains in the joint, offering continuous support and comfort.
